Its meat, OK. This isn’t a fashion shoot, and yes, that is a raw slice of something that was once living. If you can’t handle that, then I hear there are big supermarkets who will pander to your squeamish consumerism. But if you do like to see the perfect marbling of a classy rib-eye steak, or to see the reassuring colour of corn-fed chicken before buying it, then Allens is the site for you.
Whatsmore, they sell the best English mustard ever made.

The Shop
We made it really simple. Pulled out all those dropdowns that infest even the most simple of online stores, and put in clear links and buttons.
Homepage
Its been replaced now, but originally we built a 3D version of the octagonal butcher's block from the shop on 117 Mount Street, Mayfair. It was quite cool, so here's to preserving it as a digital museum piece.
Cut Explorer #1
One of the things we did for the site was to build an interactive cut explorer to help people (foodies!) understand more about the cuts they could buy, and to figure out what was best for their needs.

Selecting an animal, you could see the various cuts and a set of "tags" which showed everything you might want to do with it

Crucially, the resulting information provides links to products within the shop, and also shows what the meat looks like

Clicking a "tag" revealed all the possible cuts that would work for that purpose.
